Most Frequently Asked Questions About Synthetic Golf Greens

Are there any contour limitations?
No. Since the shape of our silica sand is ANGULAR it will lock in place after it is watered down. This combined with the weight of the silica sand anchors the turf firmly in place.  This permits the contour to be sloped at any angle. Many of our customers construct their greens in two tiers or with rolling undulations.

How does water drain off the green?
Water drains directly off the top of the synthetic putting green.

Can snow, ice, wind, or intense heat harm the green?
ProGreen Synthetic Golf Greens have been installed in the Arizona deserts and high in the Rocky Mountains -- The resilient UV-resistant fibers will withstand the effects of rain, snow, ice and intense UV and heat exposure.

Will a ProGreen Synthetic Putting Green wear out?
Since most of the wear is on the sand, these greens will virtually last forever.   Our turf comes with an 8-year warranty, and the first greens we installed in Denver in 1987 are still going strong and being used regularly.

Can a ProGreen Synthetic Putting Green be installed indoors?
Yes. However, with our sand filled greens a minimal amount of top dressing sand will track outside the green area.  We recommend using our nylon products, PGN3300 or PGN3600, for indoor installations.

Can a sand trap be placed next to a ProGreen Synthetic Putting Green?
Yes. We recommend you use Bunker Sand or Washed Masonry Sand which is available at your local Sand and Gravel Company. Bunker Sand can be easily brushed off the green. Sand Trap installation instructions are included in the written instructions provided with every ProGreen Putting Green purchase.

Can a ProGreen Synthetic Putting Green absorb a long ball bounce?
Yes.  Many of our products will absorb long ball bounces, with the exception of our nylon products.  Our unique fiber density and top dressing give ProGreen putting greens the ability to hold shots from from a distance.  A different blend of silica sand is required for long ball greens.  We have many 9 and 18 hole golf courses installed though out the country that employ this technology.

What is the Stimp Speed of a ProGreen Golf Green?
The average stimp speed is 8 or 9 but can be adjusted up to a 12. See Stimp Speed.

Can a ProGreen Synthetic Green be installed near my other landscaping?
Yes. Keep in mind that if you want to install a green near a tree to make sure the tree is deep rooted.  The roots of a shallow rooted tree will rise to the surface, causing swells and bumps on the golf green surface.

How is debris, such as branches and leaves, removed from the green?
A Lawn/Leaf Blower is the quickest way to remove debris. You can also lightly sweep debris off the surface with the included push broom.
